Introducing Vincent G. Lane

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Vincent Lane is no stranger to shining lights and bright marquees. Growing up, Lane wanted to pursue a career as a wide receiver in football. However, things didn’t go quite as planned. Due to his unique look and encouragement from family and friends, he discovered that he was meant to be a model.
With idols such as Will Smith, Vincent knows that it is more than possible to make something out of nothing. After his first official modeling session and photo shoot, Vincent knew that he had the potential to be an advantageous model. Vincent is no ordinary model, and possesses qualities that many models in the industry lack. His hard work and dedication are endless and he remains humble, increasing his astounding personality. Modeling for four years strong, he has become dedicated to going above and beyond, going the extra mile to ensure that he is the best at his craft.

Lane has incredible sex appeal, and has the structure and look for both high-end fashion and editorial shoots. Not only does he have the hunger and dedication to be a high-end model, he wants to expand his career options and opportunities as a sports agent and songwriter as well. The sky is the limit for this young man of talent and success.

You’re probably wondering what I have in common with Vincent G. Lane? I am proud to announce that he is my client! His website will be launched soon and I am in the process of connecting with fashion bloggers for features. If you are interested, please contact me at publicistlynnwalker@gmail.com!

Hiring A Freelance Publicist For Your Business

The job of a publicist is to assist clients in generating exposure for their business. This requires the publicist to build relationships with bloggers, editors, reporters and other media people. You may be great at developing your business, products and services, but sometimes you need some help getting the word out about it. Publicists help you find a unique angle to your company story or product that the media will be interested in. When hiring a publicist, there are many things you must consider:

1. Publicity is NOT guaranteed.
A publicist cannot guarantee results. He/she can send a million pitches; ultimately the decision to feature you depends on the outlet, its schedule and other factors.

2. Generating results takes time; be patient.
You will not become a successful media sensation overnight. A publicist sometimes has to send pitches to the same outlets repeatedly and build a relationship with the staff there before they can generate a placement. Working on your brand is also important

3. When hiring a publicist, make sure that you have a budget.
A good publicist will cost anywhere from $300.00 to $3000.00 per month depending on your needs. It is really worth it, especially if your publicist is writing material such as press releases, event announcements, creating press kits in addition to pitching and getting media placements.

4. Make sure that your publicist understands your short term and long term goals.
It is important that they understand your expectations and that you understand his/hers as well. Also, be sure to read the contract thoroughly. A PR contract can be for three months or longer depending on whether or not your goals are being met. You can also hire a freelancer to help you on an as-needed basis with a particular event or promotion. Be mindful that campaigns take a few weeks to develop and execute. Reach out as early as possible.

5. Lastly, be sure to research the reputation of the publicist that you want to hire.
Look at their references, resume and portfolio. Once you have a look over everything, then you are ready to make make contact and set up a meeting to discuss your goals and needs. After receiving a proposal and outlining the services and costs, you are ready to make your final decision. Be sure to speak with multiple publicists to find the one that is right for you.

Kirko Bangz: More Than A One Hit Wonder

image

Anyone that knows me can tell you that I am always Googling new and upcoming artists. There is one in particular that I have a lot of respect and admiration for, his name is Kirk Randle. You may know him by Kirko Bangz. This Houston native is more than a rapper to me. I would consider him an intellectual as well as a true business man.
His song, “Drank In My Cup”, is number one on the hip hop charts.  Since 2009, he has released five mixed tapes- three in the Procrastination Kills series, Progression and Progression 2: A Young Texas Playa. This year he will
drop his debut album on Warner Bros. Records. Kirko has been compared to Lil’ Wayne and Drake, which is a huge accomplishment considering he is the “new kid on the block” in the industry. Critics and naysayers have called him a one hit wonder, but with songs like “That Pole” featuring Chris Brown, among others, he is sure to prove them wrong.

Interviewing Tips 101

Hello everyone! I noticed on Twitter a lot of my followers that are interns or seeking employment absolutely DREAD  the interview process. Personally I enjoy it! (I know, right?) So here are a few tips on how I handle interviews and get rid of nervous feelings:

1) Be confident- Know that you can do it! You are well-prepared and you are qualified! There is no reason to be afraid! if you don’t get the position, it wasn’t meant for you. But trust, something will come along

2) Do your research- When you are contacted by Human Resources or the recruiter, be sure to remember his/her name! Find that person on LinkedIn, Twitter etc. Be sure to connect. Know how they got started in their field. When the time comes to ask questions, it always looks good that you’ve taken time out to find out who they are and what they accomplished.

3) Realize that an interview is a simple opportunity to talk about yourself- No one in the world knows who you are and what you are capable of like you do! Be sure to speak highly of yourself, but don’t over do it. You hold the key. It is your resume’ they are looking at. Be sure that your resume’ is updated and accurate. Also, keep your portfolio updated and neat. Ultimately, the interview is about YOU AND YOUR SKILLS.

4) Realize that an interview is  to a meeting- Initially, you don’t know the potential employer, nor do they know you. So, relax! Yes, first impressions are lasting, but you also have to make sure that the company is a good git for you and vice versa. If you are nervous, you lose focus on that important factor!

5) Be Positive- If you want the job and you have put in the work to get it, CLAIM IT AS YOURS! There is no reason to be negative or doubt yourself before you even enter the room. Remain positive before, during and even after the process. Be sure to get the person’s business card, you never know, it could become a great networking opportunity!

I know that being on the hunt for a job isn’t easy, it can be very frustrating and difficult. But, it’s okay. Everyone goes through it. It is simply a stepping stone on your journey to greatness! Remember to encourage yourself along the way and surround yourself with positive people. I hope this helps my loves!

New Season of Love & Hip Hop: ATL Edition

Vh1’s hit reality show “Love and Hip Hop  will premiere June 18 at 8 p.m. This time the show is set in a new city, Atlanta, along with a new cast.

Cast members include: rapper Rasheeda and her husband Kirk Frost,  rapper Lil’ Scrappy and his mom, a Latina rapper name Joseline, singer K. Michelle, Grammy Award winning producer Stevie J. and new R &B and Trinidadian  singer Karlie Redd.   Stevie J has worked with well-known artists such as Jay-Z,  and Diddy, his girlfriend Mimi Haust will also appear on the show.  Rasheeda has been in the music business for a long time, but has yet to find her big break into mainstream music. Her husband is also her manager.  Rapper Diamond of Crime Mob was set to be a main character on the show, but she declined once her ex-boyfriend Lil’ Scrappy and his mother, known as Mama Dee were revealed as cast members on the show. Lil’ Scrappy also appear on the show with his girlfriend, Erica Dixon.

Now, I have never heard of Karlie Reed or Joseline….perhaps they will remind viewers of Somaya Reece? This should be an interesting season to watch. It is definitely a great way to continue to put Atlanta and its artists on the map.  Maybe by the end of the show, people will recognize Joseline and Karlie Reed for their music and K. Michelle will have another hit on her hands.  As far as Rasheeda, who is extremely talented and in her own lane, she deserves to be a mainstream rapper. I hope that her behavior on the show will prove that.  Lil’ Scrappy needs to come back with another hit single as well.

The show will have 10 episodes. The first and second season of Love and Hip Hop were filmed in New York and consisted of Jim Jones, his girlfirend Chrissy, his mother Mama Jones, singer Oliva, Emily B, (rapper Fabulous’ girlfriend), Latina rapper Somaya Reece, Yandy Smith,( Jim Jones former manager) and Kimbella, (girlfriend of rapper Cam’Ron).   The show  drew 2 to 3 million viewers per week in its original airing. I wonder if the ratings will be the same after this season? There is only one way to find out!

I’m excited to watch the show and I hope you are too! Stay tuned.

(Also, I may do another post taking a closer look at each cast member soon!)

Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall No Longer Playing In “The Game”

According to gossiponthis.com,Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall, better known as Melanie and Derwin Davis of BET’s “The Game”, will NOT be returning next season.

Mowry announced to fans via Twitter: “Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way. I am looking forward to my upcoming projects…the release of my book #OhBaby [today!], season 2 of @TiaTameraShow on @mystyle premiering in June, and my @ABCFamily movie coming out in December…more to come!” love u so much”

BET’s hit show “The Game” is about  the lives of professional of football players. Tia and Pooch’s characters are a major part of the show’s plot. Hall is working on another project.

I am a huge fan of this show. And although the other characters in the show are funny and amazing, I’m not sure if the show can survive without them. It definitely will not be the same. Everyone loves Melanie and Derwin. They helped to make the show what it is today. Sad to say, but BET’s “The Game”, will lose ratings as well as their fan base because of this change.

Do you think the show can maintain its success without Melanie and Derwin?
